Swimmer Magazine Cover with Victoria Chidester

Victoria Chidester

Wednesday, March 3, 2009
Fellow COMSA swimmer Victoria Chidester (52) lost her battle with cancer. She was on the cover of USMS SWIMMER magazine right after USMS Short Course Yards nationals in Austin in 2008. She is survived by her husband Ray, her two children and his two children.

At the annual Loveland Sweetheart meet on February 28, 2009, many COMSA swimmers signed a matted cover of the SWIMMER magazine cover. Sandy Golding was able to see Victoria and Ray on Sunday, March 1 and present the gift to them. Though she was not able to respond, Ray believed that she was able to hear Sandy as the gift was presented.

"Victoria did a superior job showing each of us how to be competitive and battle with all of her might. Swimming helped train her for her final endurance event and she fought well with courage and grace. We'll miss her at the blocks. She was an awesome inspiration to us all!" Sandy Golding

Memorial service: Sunday, March 8th, 1:30 p.m. at Phillips United Methodist Church, 1450 S. Pierce St., Lakewood, CO 80232
