The COMSA Annual Meeting was held April 14, 2007 at the University of Denver El Pomar Natatorium, 8:30 a.m. A quorum was established.
1. Opening statement and welcome by COMSA Chairperson, Heather Hagadorn. The 2007 State Meet has 344 swimmers participating this year. Introductions of the board members and chairpersons took place. A request for a Chatfield coordinator for the volunteers for the 2007 summer open water swimming was made. Please check the website for further details.
2. Nicole Vanderpoel thanked Heather for her leadership of COMSA. She also recognized High Point Swim and Nike for their sponsorship of the meet providing high point awards, national record awards, and other voluntary efforts.
3. Awards presentations: Chris Nolte
á Lt. GovernorÕs Awards were presented to Marcia Anziano and Will Amos.
á The Coach of the Year Award was presented to Jamie Louie of Colorado Springs Swim Team.
4. It was MSA'd to approve the revised COMSA Bylaws. An overview of this revision is as follows:
á Our ByLaws currently require that at least 80% of the membership of Teams within COMSA reside within the boundaries of our State. USMS requested that we offer assistance to smaller groups in our area (such as some of our neighboring states with fewer than 100 swimmers) and recommended that we change our membership boundaries to be more flexible. The change that is up for vote is to move the boundary description out of the ByLaws and into Policy. This way, if Teams outside Colorado wish to join COMSA we do not have to require that the entire membership vote on change.
5. Meeting was adjourned at 8:36 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Garnier
COMSA Secretary
